Fundraising for the Hurricane Ian Relief Program

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page! My name is Camila Wilson, I am 26 years old, my birthday is Christmas Eve, and I was born in Atlanta, Georgia, and I currently live in Houston, Texas.

I started fundraising in 2019, on the birthday of my brother and I's late best friend. I wanted to honor the inspiration I found in one of his childhood family friends, who was an enviornmental activist, a doctor, and a nonprofit organizer of the TerraForm Group, based in Kenya, and responsible for the clean-up of contaminated earth near lead

Mining sites, that were impacting the lives and health of Children living in these specific, local villages in Chad. This person had a big impact on my friend's life, and that meant a lot to me, and he even made an impact on my life, with just a few phone calls and messages through social media!

So, in 2019, to celebrate our 22nd birthday, I decided to host my first Christmas fundraiser on his birthday, and seasonly every year after that, under a platform that would help me build a program that would allow me to serve my community and bring change to the world, like my mom's home country of Guatemala, or his of Peru, and I knew that the change I grew up to believe was possible while studying in school could be done, little-by-little, step-by-step. So, I took that first step, and developed by Nonprofit platform EarthThreads International and the Camiji Foundation, in honor of MacKenzie Dean Cunningham. (Dec. 18th, 1996-January 2nd, 2018)

Since then, I have been to Guatemala, and different parts of the United States studying socio-cultural trends and promoting and advocating for quality of life, equality for all, And the protection of individual rights, including the right to a healthy environment, so that we can lead healthy lives, in order to sustain and ensure a brighter future for our future generations.

I believe that how we respond to humanitarian crisis will determine the future Development of our global community.

This year, Summer of 2023, I am partnering with All Hands and Heart as a sponsored volunteer, in the Hurricane Ian relief program, in order to Fundraise for the reconstruction of Southwestern Florida neighborhoods affected by hurricane Ian, back in 2022, as well as to learn about natural disaster response and Mitigation of humanitarian crisis.

All of the proceeds towards this fundraiser goes towards funding the program here in Fort Myers, by providing safety equipment, housing facility, and necessary essentials For the volunteers And staff on-site and at the base camp, to ensure the Safety sustainability and success of this effort.

Thank you for joining me in this effort. I believe that this program here at Fort Myers is full of people who are natural light workers, leading with their hearts and applying their skills and intelligence, because deep down we all have the intention for bringing peace harmony and balance into the world. I believe that in this decade, of the second Millennium, we are the change that we wish to see, and that is the dream for the 2020s.
