Hurricane Ian Relief Program with AHAH

Day One is Remarkable so far. Beginning with one hour of yoga meditation, and last night's campfire watching still-frame movies by a Polish director, was a great way to meet the team! I chanted Aum, listened to Ravi Shankar's Morning Raga, and ate an apple! I am happy, my yoga and breath meditation is helping me overcome a lot of physical, and mental, blockages. And I am really grateful for the AHaH Sponsorship Program for assisting me in traveling out here for 3 weeks of work in Fort Myers! If you didn't know, here are the details of Hurricane Ian and AHaH.

Fort Myers, located in the sunshine state of Florida, is a vibrant city known for its stunning beaches, lively atmosphere, and rich history. However, its coastal location also exposes it to the occasional wrath of powerful tropical storms. One such notable hurricane was Hurricane Ian, which made landfall near Fort Myers in the not-so-distant past. With its strong winds and torrential rains, Ian left a trail of destruction in its wake, testing the resilience of the local community. Fortunately, Fort Myers, well-prepared for such events, showcased its ability to swiftly recover and rebuild.

Nestled amidst the picturesque landscapes of Fort Myers, Camp Caloosa stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of the city's residents. This cherished campsite, with its sprawling grounds and serene surroundings, has been a beloved destination for countless individuals seeking outdoor adventure and a connection with nature. From exciting camping expeditions to engaging educational programs, Camp Caloosa has provided memorable experiences for generations of visitors. Despite the occasional challenge posed by natural disasters like Hurricane Ian, Camp Caloosa has consistently demonstrated its dedication to preserving its natural beauty and continuing its mission of fostering personal growth, camaraderie, and an appreciation for the great outdoors.

Today is Sunday, we are in a van, on the way to church, and although I have to say goodbye to my new friend Ember, I'm grateful to make friends and begin learning about the world of volunteering!
