Christmas and New Year in Guatemala - 2021
Visiting Guatemala has been a grounding, and humbling experience. The strength within the heart of the country
inspires me to follow the same progress and dedication to faith and productivity. Many of the people follow by nature the Four Toltec Agreements, the agreement within themselves to be immpeccable with their words, to guard their character and maintain a positive frame of mind by not taking things personally and not assuming another's intentions enough to take them personally, as well as always accepting the best within themselves and others. In every aspect of life, there is a freedom within the individual empowered and sustained by their faith in God, in Creation, in the natural forces of the elements around and within them. Lago Atitlan is a profound center of commerce, community, and life. Even the packs of dogs become friends with you, mostly for your food, however as many are well fed they seem to become the guardians of each establishment that takes them in.
The prayer of the people who come here is to realize themselves among others, to realize their beauty, their strength, and their grace. The clear waters of Atitlan, with their volcanic sand beaches and strong current of waves, provides a cool enviornment of life for those how embark of its waters. The people who come here from all over the world are open in their hearts and spirits, and are seeking a sanctuary of consiousness. The vendors that bring their pounds and pounds of artifacts, jewlerly, typical fabrics and designed clothing offer a rich and close connection to the indigenous cultures of this land.
The Sun warms you in the place it sits in the sky, as it rises over the mountains of a cool morning. If you get up just in time, the burst of light over the mountains are eye opening in more ways than one. You may even be lucky enough to be introduced to a lovely person who will just so happen to be an amazing healer, with sacred plant medicines you may or may not be prepared for.. Trust in your inner faculities, gifted by the divine miracle of life, and dive deep into the root of the root of your self, as Rumi would say! Embrace the madness of life, and go where the adventure takes you. You will find friends and family on the way.
Con Amor,
Camila
