What is it that EarthThreads International is working on in 2024?

Currently, this project is being slowed down by the fact that I have to do physical therapy with an orthopedic and chiropractor!

The first week of May 2024 I will still be summiting Central America's tallest peak, Tajumulco, as well as Acatenango and the neighboring Volcán de Fuego!

I will be solo-hiking Santa María Volcano the evening of April 25, 2024, and rugged camping overnight to see the eruptions of Santiaguito next door in Volcano Alley, and using the light of the sunrise early the next morning to pick up what I can from the famous trash trail that characterizes this hike.

Hiking and training all of this year and raising funds throughout the year for the training and wilderness medical courses while continuing and completing my degree and education at the University of Houston-Downtown. Stay tuned for University activities and Hiking Treks!

This Year 2024's OFFICIAL project collaboration will be with CODESH MINISTRIES! Goal: $2000 for scholarships, New Garden Bed for Kids Recreation Camp Sports Activities and Swim Lessons for Children with Sensory Disabilities - Camila (April 24, 2024)

(Nepal 2023-2024)

Hey everybody! EarthThreads is working on its biggest project, yet. While this year we will be focusing mainly on supporting the 2024 EarthThreads International - Codesh Ministries Collaboration Project, I am proud to announce this year's project in development, "2024-2025 High-Altitude and Wilderness Rescue Training" Expeditions!

There are so many conflicts in the world right now, and it seems that there is a movement taking place, as you read this, around the globe for bringing about awareness and providing hands-on and active solutions the world's biggest crisis.

For years I have been aware of the conflicts among specific geopolitical regions, and have always found my self sympathetic towards the underdog.

Last year, as I was making my way to Guatemala City during one of Guatemala's most politcally tense times in decades, I had th eopportunity to support the movement of the people in Guatemala demanding fair elections and progressive reforms. I and another hiker accompanied our friend from the United Nations in Guatemala City back to his vehicle from Xela, Quetzaltenango to Lago Atitlan, Panajachel. As our friend spoke to the crowds on stage, my fellow hiker encouraged me to speak as well, and I was even asked by the crowds to play the ukalele! It was a small part of everything I had ever prepared myself for, growing up as a Guatemalan American and traveling back and forth between Guatemala and the United States, and seeing the contrasts. It is a huge part of why I learned to speak Spanish, besides being able to talk to my grandmother without a translator. I have prepared for years and developed the EarthThread International platform so that I could help the progress in Guatemala, as I felt I had a responsibiltiy as an Guatemalan American. This has translated into my interest in helping the youth and progressive development around the world. I am sympathetic towards the all of the world's people's movements towards a development and modernization, and I want to be a part of it of that movement.

So, EarthThreads International is doing something big. This year, I, Camila Alejandra Wilson Avila, and my climbing partner Awu Wu, will be training in Guatemala, Tanzania, Tibet, and regions across the Himalayas in Nepal, in order to prepare for EarthThread International's most important project yet.

2025-2027's, "14 Peaks for World Peace".

I hope to use this platform in order to speak up against the violations against nature that is human genocide, poltical corruption at the expense of the people's health and infastructure, as well as the explotation of the planet's resources and neglect for planetary wellbeing, accessibility to resources, and education of the youth.

Nelly Attar is an advocate for enviornmental conservation, ecological rehabilitation and the ending the war in Gaza. I hope to work with her in the "Big Mountain Clean Up" initiative, as a leader of mountain conservation and sustainabiltiy awareness, in the hopes of learning from these experts how to develop programs and platforms for conservation and advocacy, and starting projects in Guatemala that will make a lasting impact. My hope is to help the world in its worst crisis, Plastic in the Enviornment, as well as, to promote and advocate for peace in the world, where women, men, and children can live in peace, and not in fear of political conflicts, or pollution associated with extreme poverty.

Everyone, here is what I am excited about. I will be starting a few fundraising pages, in order to raise the money to train with the world's leaders in High Altitude Expeditions and Wilderness-Mountain Rescue, and begin to obtain the permits and gear necessary to begin the first 8000m climbs with my team's support.

Here are the education and certificate training courses that my training partner and I are funding for!

Chris Gibson's RED MED and Nirmal Purja's Elite Exped Group will be offering two training courses this year that I hope to raise the money to participate in. I want to prov, that even the underdog can come out on top.

RED MED Education will be hosting a climb in Guatemala that will include Mountain and Wilderness Rescue Training at 2000-3000m.

RED MED Education will also be hosting a course that will include a trek to Everest Base Camp (5364m) and a MT Lobuche Climb (6119m), as well as the Rescue, Expedition and Disaster Medicine Course.

Elite Expedition's High-Altitude Training Course in MT. Kilimanjaro, Tanzania with Nirmal Purja and Mingma David Sherpa.

I was a national disaster response volunteer for All Hands and Hearts for EarthThread International's 2023 yearly project, I hope to take this one step further and raise the money to recieve the proper training for real-time emergency response, and for future initiatives in Guatemala, Nepal, and around the world.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. Be the change you wish to see, that is the dream for the 2020's!

Little-by-little, step-by-step, we are the generation that is walking the talk!

Love, Camila
